Window Replacement in Bergen County
Replacement windows in Hasbrouck Heights and Bergen County. Vinyl and fiberglass windows, installed, flashed and sealed right. Licensed and insured.
Old single-pane windows in Bergen County colonials and capes are where your heat goes in January. We replace them with energy-efficient units, flash them properly, and finish the interior trim so it looks like they were always there.
Typical timeline: 1–2 days for most homes. Typical price: $650–$1,400 per window installed.
What is included: Removal and disposal of old windows; Vinyl or fiberglass replacement units; Flashing and insulation; Interior and exterior trim; Bay and bow windows.
Insert or full-frame?. There are two ways to replace a window. An insert replacement keeps the existing frame and fits a new unit inside it; it is faster, less expensive, and keeps your interior and exterior trim. A full-frame replacement removes everything down to the rough opening, which lets us fix rot, re-flash the opening properly, and insulate around the frame. If the existing frames are sound, inserts are the right call. If there is rot or the old frames are out of square, full-frame is the only honest fix. We check every opening on the estimate visit and tell you which windows need which. Often it is a mix.
What we install and why. Vinyl windows are the value choice and the ones we install most: double-pane, low-E glass, argon fill, welded frames, and a lifetime warranty on the frame. Fiberglass windows cost more, expand and contract less, and hold paint. Wood-clad windows are for when the house calls for it. Every window is set level and plumb, shimmed at the hinge points, foamed with low-expansion foam, flashed at the sill and sides, and finished with new interior stops and exterior capping or trim. That is what makes the difference between a window that seals and one that whistles in January.
Energy, noise and condensation. A good replacement window does three things in a Bergen County house. It stops drafts and cuts heat loss through the glass with low-E coatings and argon fill. It knocks down outside noise, which matters near Route 17, Route 46, the Turnpike and Teterboro, where laminated glass or a thicker double-pane unit makes a real difference in a bedroom. And it ends the winter condensation that runs down old single-pane glass and rots the sill. Look for the NFRC label on any quote. It lists the U-factor (lower is better at keeping heat in) and the solar heat gain coefficient. An ENERGY STAR-certified window rated for our climate zone is the right target.
Bathroom, basement and egress windows. Bathroom windows get obscure or frosted glass and often a smaller awning or slider unit so the window stays out of the shower splash zone. When we remodel a bathroom we usually replace the window at the same time and trim it with PVC, which does not rot in a wet room. Basement windows are their own category. Old steel hopper windows rust out and leak. We replace them with vinyl hoppers or sliders, and when a basement is being finished into a bedroom, we cut in a code-compliant egress window with a proper well so the room can legally be used for sleeping.
